Apple needs to expand their phone lineup like they did with the ipod (touch classic nano shuffle) and mac lines (mini imac macbook pro macbook air mac pro). Why not give consumers more choices through multiple offerings (small screen, medium screen, big screen)? I think they're limiting themselves.

Its the apple way. But, with the ip5 they really need to drastically change their design. Hell, the 4, 4s looks so boring and antiquated.

If you read the article, you'll see that they stated the same thing I did, the Apple star has stopped rising.

An article that was pointed out to be devoid of facts or links to data to back up its claims?

Stopped. Rising. No one said anything about reversing or declining.

Then what exactly does it mean? That they're going to just level off and not move up or down? That they're going to just sit at ~30% of the smart phone market and ~70% of the tablet market. That sounds awful.

This quarter was less than previous quarters, and far less than analysts predicted. As noted by Apple, this was far less than they thought too.

They're up year-over-year, so they grew both revenue and profit. Missing analyst predictions really only impacts the stock value, which as I've pointed out doesn't really indicate anything beyond what a bunch of people in the stock market will pay for it.

They've peaked.

I wouldn't bet money on it.

Now, you can leave smarter and better for the experience.

If only.

It could turn out like the 80's PC wars. Apple has one offering Macintosh / Mac OS (iphone / iOS) while Windows (Android) has everyone else with a wide variety of designs & offerings. Just 1 offering could become too stale and the coolness factor eventually wears off.

They don't need to change anywhere, I'd bet you $100 the iPhone 5 will easily outsell any other single handset on the market.

As much as I like iPhones, it will struggle to do that if it still looks like the iphone 4/S.

The flip side is also true. Some people don't like change. Who needs 12 when 1 works just fine.

Pretty sure we heard argument when the 4s came out with a 3.5" screen. 'sides, 4" screen is pretty much confirmed. IMHO 4-4.3" is the sweetspot.

I'll probably stick with the iPhone if 5 comes with a slightly larger screen and LTE. Otherwise I'll give Android one more shot.

Not that my statement has anything to do with iPad 3 sales in China but it seems that by page 2 or 3 of an Apple discussion nothing is ever really about the OP, right?

Maybe, but Apple is going for the high-end market segment. and so far, this strategy is working. That said, if not just to dominate the market, I don't see why they cannot do a low-end iPhone. If Samsung can have concurrent low-end/high-end phones (Ace and SIII/Galaxy Note), then so can Apple.
