i am interested in getting a portable device but still wanna be able to type (use word, excel, ppt, adobe) so when i travel i wouldnt have the weight and the bulk...this led me to look at the ipad 2 and the netbooks.

i know what i can do on a netbook but not so sure how the ipad 2 matches up. I checked out the ipad 2 but not seeing that much to compare it with the netbook.

can anyone share their view on if they would get the ipad 2 or the netbook

Me personally, a netbook. I mean for gaming , email, browsing, etc - iPad 2 for sure. But when trying to actually be productive & more importantly efficient then the netbook. You can hook up mouses, different keyboards, external monitors, etc. The ipad can do I'd say just about everything a netbook can but its limited with some content creation such as gfx, flash, programming, etc. Netbook is quicker and a bit more productive, but an iPad 2 is arguably easier to use, and I'd say more fun to use. This is ignoring price. but for $550 an iPad 2 costs, you can get a pretty damn nice netbook along with a nice mouse or something!

Anyway Its generic but I hope this help!

I've used netbooks since they first came out and have borrowed friends' iPads many times. The bottom line is this: if you want to consume, you get an iPad. If you want to produce, you get a netbook. Typing up documents on the iPad, even with the keyboard accessory, is a far less pleasant experience imho compared to using even a netbook with a crappy keyboard. Typing a paper on a netbook with a nice keyboard is a far, far, far better experience than typing something up on an iPad.
