If you get an ipad from verizon and want to use it with their 3G, is it a monthly bill like a phone, or do they just increase the purchase price? doesnt seem evident on the website.

Don't do it. Get the Wifi only version and if you want cellular connectivity do the Hotspot thing. It's cheaper and you get the option of 4G. You can also connect other devices, AND change to a different Tablet later without restrictions later.

how often are you really going to be somewhere where you need the 3g connection, people don't walk around and use their ipad, they sit in a cafe or at home and use the provided wifi. and like doboji said, get a phone that can double as a wifi hotspot and you are golden.

i know a few people with ipads and tablets, and only one has a data plan, and he never actually uses it. waste of money he says.
