Anyone can make up claims on the internet. To me it seems kinda funny that you say you easily got over 10 hours of battery life out of an iPad when Anandtech only got 9:45 hours and then you claim you can't get 6:00 hours out of a Transformer when Anandtech got 9:15 hours.

I have both.
The transformer readings were on first day

Where did I say I easily get over 10 hours, so not only are you accusing us of making stuff up, your also accusing me with stuff you've made up yourself.

The predicted battery times produced by Asus I think you'll find a little * saying with wifi off.

My Transformer struggles over 6 hours
my Ipad lasts over 10 hours

Here, where it says "my Ipad (sic) lasts over 10 hours."

And I'm quoting battery life from the review here at Anandtech. The ASUS Transformer lasted 9:15 hours web browsing on Wi-Fi, running an e-mail client and doing music playback. Can't get more real-world than that.

So first you say it does over 10 hours regularly, and now you say it doesn't. Which one is it?

Sounds like you're trolling, so goodbye.

I have a Transformer and for the most part I am satisfied with it. The battery lasts for days on end if left on standby. I don't use it every day but I really only have to plug it in to charge about once every week to week and a half. It's not like it's running out of juice daily.

I also like how well Flash performs on it. It can play Flash natively, as it appears in a webpage. For example, if there's a Youtube video embedded on a webpage, it plays it as it appears. On my Nexus One (a decidedly older device), I get really choppy performance playing embedded videos. I have to click through to full screen for it to play properly.

I have no problems with the stock apps and find the Gmail and Email applications to be quite nice. I also have no problems with the Marketplace apps. I've found great news readers, weather, and movie apps. Movies play great on the Transformer so long as you find the right player (to support different codecs).

I know on paper it's heavier than the iPad 2 but I don't own an iPad and didn't come from using one so it's not like holding one in each hand and seeing that one is heaver. You simply get used to the weight.

The only one stiring is yourself, try reading what you've written instead of trying to start an argument it'll be a lot better.

The android I bought as a family machine for my parents to replace their laptop and in the first couple of days after leaving it charging for the full recommended 8 hours, the first few times it lasted just over 6 hours with non stop usage. I then downloaded a app to turn wifi off on the fly.

I can't moderate a thread that I'm posting in, but I can say as a user that I request a cease-and-desist on the "who's a troll thing". Can we get back to talking about tablets and not the people commenting on them?

As an iPad1 and Transformer owner, I have not clocked the time that I get on both, but I can say that they both last a long time. In my opinion, there's really only three types of battery life: 1. lasts less than 1 day of sporadic use, 2. lasts more than 1 day of sporadic use, but less than a week of occasional use, 3. lasts more than a week of random occasional use. Both the iPad and TF fall into the #3 category.

Annomander, I would say that you must have some app running in the background on the TF or your device has a physical problem because the usage you described doesn't appear to be normal. What's a link to the Transformer forums you mentioned?

In settings, change your notification sound to silent.
Thanks. That worked. I should have seen that. I didn't realize that if I scrolled up in the list of sounds that there would be a "silent" option. I kept looking for a notification volume bar or something.

Now I just need a fix for this (www.reddit.com on my TF):

The TF looks like a pretty cool device, but, I rember jumping on the first gen netbooks and being disappointed as the next generation devices came out with some nice refinements in a short time, so I'm on the sidelines... Actually, after getting a 13" MBA, I'm considering selling my iPads. It's much more functional, has similar battery life, etc.... (at 3X's the price of an iPad, though...)

I hear ya, but in this tech hobby we all love we willalways be disappointed cuz there is always something new and improved around the corner. I now skip a couple of tech generations which is why I'm still on a c2d CPU.

All I can say is that I really like my iPad 2. From reading reviews it seems to me that the android devices are still a bit behind the iPad. I expect tegra 3 and future android revisions to remedy that by the next generation or so, but as it stands I would get an iPad for sure.

keep in mind the ipad 2 is 100 bucks more then the transformer.

I would suggest you look at the Samsung Galaxy 10.1v Tablet as well.

Make that a lot. Like a yawning gulf.

I have a Xoom. I don't really have a problem with the hardware but the Android Honeycomb user experience is like a Model T against an S-Class.

Put it this way, if you're going to buy a Fisher-Price cut-down joke of a finger-paint-generation-friendly netbook, get one from the guys that do Fisher-Price right.

I have owned and used iPad, iPad2, Xoom, Transformer.
Scoring from 0 to 10, with 10 being the best.

iPad gets an 9
iPad2 gets a 10
Xoom gets a 6.5
Transformer gets a 7

Love my iPad2 and don't see giving it up anytime soon.
I may be biased due to the fact I have the ipod touch which I carry everywhere.

While I am no big fan of apple products I do feel they made a solid tablet with the ipad2. I love my transformer but if I wasnt an IT guy I would probably hate the damn thing and be an apple person. I spend so much time tweaking the damn thing than I do playing with it, which for me is not a problem. I can certainely see why the ipads are so popular.

As noted in OP, I am in China... I can get a Transformer for 3400(online)/3700(local) rmb or an iPad 2 locally for 3600 rmb, a difference of $15

With that difference I will have to say that the iPad 2 is the winner and will be getting my money soon or at the end of the month when I make it to HK, where the 2 products are priced roughly the same as well.
