iPad 2 and GPS/Turn by Turn

So here's my dilemma, or perhaps its not a dilemma. I was hoping to pick up an iPad2 WiFi next weekend. I was hoping to use it in my car for not only playing music via BT or the 3.5mm jack if that doesn't work, but also for Turn by Turn Navigation, like I use with my Droid phone right now.

So I'm looking at the specs of the iPad2, and the WiFi version makes no mention of GPS, and the 3G version says its assisted GPS, and there are different kings of AGPS, so here are my questions:

1. I would love to tether my iPad to my Droid phone via WiFi for a data connection, and use that for Turn by Turn Nav, streaming music, etc... Would that work?

2. If the answer is no, then my question is with the 3G version which says it has AGPS. Is this just cellular triangulation, or is it actually communicating with GPS satellites. If its the satellites, does it need to use the built in 3G for data "assisting", or could i get that through tethering via WiFi to my droid device.

Thanks in advance.

My iPad 1 worked fine for google maps on the move while tethered to my droid for data. Kept my position as I was moving. GPS or Cell tower, I can't tell you.

The AGPS in Apple devices use the cell towers to help the fix to the satellites. Once it gets that initial fix from the cell towers, it is using the satellites from that point on. And yes you can use your data connection from your droid for the data while using the AGPS to track your location.

Possibly, and yes. Even if there are no cell towers to triangulate you'll still get a GPS lock, it'll just take a bit longer.

Will the droid send its location over wifi somehow? Not sure how that would work.

I just used the navigon app, I am sure there are better ones now, and jailbroke my ipad, and used a bluetooth GPS unit. Way better gps then AGPS or a phone IMO. No need for data, but you could tether and use google maps for data and the BT GPS unit for location.
