IP35-E worth Upgrading to?

So I have the Asus P5B-E, and I saw the $60 newegg deal. I currently have a corsair 520 and a Q6600. I want to upgrade later to a penryn 45nm when a cheap great overclocker quad comes out since my Q6600 only goes to a little under 3ghz for stability and heat purposes.

Would I notice a difference much either now or later? Apparently the P5B-E has good support for 45nm. See http://event.asus.com/mb/45nm/

The Abit board has sketchy support. Doesn't seem officially suported, but it prob works.

What say you? thanks

I would probably wait & possibly get a P45 when they come out in a few months as I don't think that you'll gain much going 965>P35.
P45 probably won't have a big performance difference either but will have additional features.

If there's one thing I've noticed about motherboards and chipsets it's that the early bios releases suck. I'll never buy a board within 6 months of it's release.

No, the IP35-E has been out a while, so BIOS should be mature. This board is an overclocker's favorite. P35 does bring
a nice little performance increase over P965, check the P35 reviews here at anandtech. Unless you really want PCIe 2.0
and 8x8 crossfire, then that is what the P45 will offer. I doubt we will see much of a performance increase over P35,
especially with DDR2. DDR3 might be another matter.

I don't need crossfire. Don't know about PCI 2. I have a 7900GT and might upgrade to a 8800GT sometime.

No, it's a very good P35 mobo but there just isn't a big difference between the performance of P35 & 965.
