ip35 bios update

I'm currently running version 11 of the ip35 mobo's bios. My fan control is off and i have no way of running my ram at the intended 800mhz, only 720 or 900 for some reason.

Can someone give me a quick run through of how I'd go about updating my bios? Thanks in advance

You MUST read these rules before posting in this forum.

your best bet is to change the subject to "please lock this" and then in your message beg not to be banned.
Then, post this in one of the more appropriate forums.

Hint: This sounds like a "computer help" question related to your "motherboard."
 
burnitdown, calm your ass down..Sorry I don't study the forum rules intently upon entering them with my questions I hope to get answered quickly and effortlessly by easy going people unlike yourself. I'm new to this whole thing and come here with questions because many people here have helped me in the past...I like to log on, get my answers, and enjoy my time gaming. Not scrolling through endless forum rules with the hopes of coming across some bogus guide to online etiquette. Grow up

Thanks pottedmeat...I read abit's forums but different people were saying different things and I decided by coming here to ask my question I'd get a better response.
 
You see, if you can't be bothered to read the directions, why should be people be bothered to spend time on your questions? It's more the attitude of the noob than the noobness itself people hate. Posting in violation of the #1 rule of these specific highly technical forums (NO TROUBLESHOOTING QUESTIONS etc) reeks of I'm-too-lazy-to-help-myself-so-why-don't-you-help-me-for-me.

He's coming up on 9000 posts and can say whatever he wants to people who do stuff like this. At this point you should be thinking about the 3 fingers pointing back at yourself when you're pointing at him over something that would never have happened if you had followed the oh-so-easy rules, and used the oh-so-easy search feature.

So I'll give you a hint: the very first search result to "ip35-e bios flash" contains plenty of information. Beyond that there is google.

I understand wanting to post and get on with gaming, because I do that too (and feel guilty about it), so when I do do this I include "a quick search didn't find me anything; so if any of you guys can recommend some threads that I can start with, that would be great" instead of "can you write me a guide for how to flash my bios", in the wrong section nonetheless, the one where the very first stickied thread says not to post troubleshooting questions nonetheless.

Noobness like this is not wanted, so please clean up your act 🙂.
 
I'm terribly sorry for inconveniencing everyone to the point that I did. I feel awful. As you all are probably very busy i will punish myself in any manner I see fit. Once again, I'm sorry for my heinous and inexcusable actions that have pained this community to the point that they have...I never meant for any of this...

But in all seriousness, before jumping down someones throat wouldn't you find it feasible that someone, a newb even, could overlook and entirely over think the fact that there may be posting rules to posting on a forum he's not familiar with? I mean, is it really that far fetched? I'm sure if I would have been looking or even thinking about a set of rules pertaining to these forums i would have seen the first post stating "do not post trouble shooting questions" but unfortunately i completely overlooked it seeing as this is probably the first time I've posted in this section of anandtech.

Soccerball, the guy didn't have to waste his time responding..but props on kissing his ass, I'm sure you're high up on the food chain at your place of employment

In the large majority of forums that I visited, there is a generally enforced rule that your posts get put in the right section. No Xbox360 posts in a PS3 category, no Linux questions in a Windows category, etc...

I'm not sure how they can make the "Computer Help" category any more obvious for people looking for computer troubleshooting help.
 
Plus all good forums have a search feature, and as every intelligent person knows that is often a good place to start 😉

On a helpful note try abits website, there are probably people who have asked the same questions there, and they will know more about that boards bios features and revisions.

Just spent the last 5 to minutes searching and I can't even find the forum rules listed so maybe they need to be placed somewhere more obvious. So I really don't think it is clear to new members and Anandtech should be making it transparent by placing the basic rules in an easy to locate place that is signposted via a sticky at the top of each forum section.
 
There is a big thread on the IP35-E (should also apply to the IP35) - If you read through there are lots of valuable information there.
Bottom line is that when messing around/overclocking etc you have to do some research - there are no quick answers/fixes that works for everyone - no two setups are the same
If you are updating bios then best to follow the manufacturer's forums and support first.
Second find out which bios offers the best feedback from users
Third flash away preferably not from windows (i.e. Abit's flash menu)

An excerpt follows from the IP35-E thread where the beta bios 11 was quoted - this is old now

To switch to latest Beta BIOS, download from link below and also the official 11 BIOS from the Abit global website. Copy all five files from official 11 BIOS to floppy. Rename Beta BIOS to M630A_11.BIN and replace it with the 11 BIOS on floppy. You should also edit the ABITFAE.BAT file to include the WB switch.

Command should look like this>>> AWDFLASH.EXE %1 /py /sn /wb /cd /cp /cc
