IP Question

When trying to start Ghost Recon, I got this message:

Your computer's internal IP address (xxx.xxx.x.xx) is different than its external IP address (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx). This can be due to a firewall, NAT or proxy and makes hosting games difficult.

Do you wish to use your externally known (Internet) IP address ? This will let you play normally through a firewall but will not let you play with others on a network behind a firewall.

(I changed the numbers to x's)

Why would it say that? Im not running the XP firewall and as far as I know I don't have any of those things that would change it. And which one should I use, external?

If you have a broadband router that will do it. Also depending on your ISP, maybe they have a firewall and it figures it out. I know my cable provider has a firewall and I have a 206.xxx.xxx.xxx address mapped to a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx internal address.

What type of address does your machine have normally? Is it an internal address? (10.x, 192.168.x) Do you have a cable or DSL router?

My lan is a 192.168.x.x network. This is running off my broadband router which is using a 10.x.x.x address which is mapped to a 206.x.x.x public IP.
