I already jailbreak(ed or broken) my 4S - make sure you turn VPN on and then run Absinthe.

There's no Windows version out yet so I can't do it. What's all this talk about the VPN? Is it a required one time thing or is it always required to be on the device? I don't know how I feel about tunneling through an unknown website...

You're not tunneling to a site. All I know is I opened Absinthe right after it said I needed to and nothing happened. I was perusing Engadget and someone mentioned turn on VPN and THEN open Absinthe and it worked. Probably has to do with the exploit.

I've jailbroken before, but I've never heard of Absinthe (not the drink :p); what does it do?

Finally cracked the iPad2 boot loader??
No. Unfortunately it sounds like this is a pure userland exploit, so Apple can patch the whole thing up in the next version of iOS.

What I really would like is an unlock for the baseband...

I would wait a few days for initial bugs, if any, to get sorted out and avoid the hassle of dealing with slow/down cydia (by the mass inflow of jailbreakers).

Why do they always recommend that you restore you iPhone to factory before jailbreaking? Why not just jailbreak over your current install?

Maybe this is the wrong thread, but a few questions on jailbreaking (mostly battery-related)
Can I turn push on automatically whenever the phone is plugged in, and turn it off when it's on battery? How about other per-app notifications? Can I schedule email check frequency to be more often during the workday? Can I customize which alerts get vibrate?

I believe there's an app that allows you to setup a schedule for those things, but I can't confirm. It'd probably be best to post on ModMyI or MacRumors.

Anyone have any suggestions for the iPad jailbreak?

I am looking to mix up my lockscreen and try something new out for that. Will lockinfo work for that? I already have it on my iphone.

Pretty much the only use I have for the iPad jailbreak so far is for emulators. Can someone else point me to some better uses for it?

I like the extra features that jailbreaking gives, but I'm retiring from it for a little while. Too many bugs and things not working right.

I would guess either to play safe on bricking it or because it relies on things that might change as you use the phone.
