iOS 5.1 and my iPad 1

I always have the suspicion that Apple cripples old hardware to sell the new. But I watched a few youtube videos, it looks like iPad 1 runs just fine with iOS 5.

Games and apps run just fine. But safari was a crashing POS after the update. But it's only certain sites...like I said ad heavy ones like Yahoo Sports or even these forums will crash consistently.
