ios 4.2 changes the orientation lock to mute. sucks

http://notebooks.com/2010/11/22/ios...ures-mute-button-instead-of-orientation-lock/

mute doesnt work all the time though lol

The change doesn't make much sense. If Apple doesn't change it back, I'm sure the jailbreak community will. I always keep mine locked to landscape anyway so it doesn't bother me much.

I'm loving the multitasking for far. No slowdowns whatsoever. The brightness and music controls in the popup bar are simple yet great additions too.

Wait... they added a brightness popup? This is one of the biggest things I use sbsettings (and jailbreak) for.

I want my freaking rotation lock back. Why the eff do I need a mute button? That seems so redundant with volume controls there already.

okay i feel like a dumb ass. you can still do rotation lock via pressing the home button twice, swiping the home bar, and then hit the rotate button. okay. now that is kinda awesome. wow.

Did it wipe anyone else's music collection on their device? I updated my iPhone 4 and had no music or any iPod related things. I had to re-sync it and everything is good now.

I prefer the switch for the rotation lock. You can easily put the iPad on mute by holding down on the volume. If you hold it long enough, it will jump/skip to 0 volume.

Done jailbreaking

Now I have multitasking that's built into iOS 😀

Wow after downloading the files the install / jailbreaking only took 5 minutes

The free account is only for the iPhone 4?!?! WTF?!?!?

Yea, luckily I have an iPhone 4, but I read that and was a bit baffled as to why they would do that?

Apple, you always get so close and then make dumb choices like this to keep everyone from being happy with you.

I went to the Best Buy next to my office building this morning. The sample iPhone 4 and iPad were MIA. They may just be updating the OS, or they could have pulled them because of the Find my iPhone workaround.

I've got an extra activation on my iPad if you want it.

How would we work that? I guess I could change my password and give you that, then change it back when we are done?

I would then be able to use Find My iPhone on our 2 iPhone 3gs under my account, right?

My ipad wont is now stuck in recovery mode and when it tries to restore with 4.2, it says "The iPad cannot be restored at this time because the iPad software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable."

Grrrrr
Ditto for me, error 1604! I also love how when you use their express lane for CS, they REQUIRE you input your phone's serial number. Gee how does one do that while the phone is IN RECOVERY mode???

why didn't you just get your shsh blobs from fw umbrella before updating?

dumb move to update if you don't have your 3.2.2 and 4.2b3 keys for any ipad . just sayin'

I prefer the switch to be used for rotation lock as well. They took an intuitive configuration setting and made it non-intuitive.

Someone mentioned that there was a brightness popup on the multitasking bar, is that on the iPad only?

Also, has anyone had any success setting up the free me account to use find my iphone? I tried setting it up but it requires you to verify your me account by checking the email, which I cant seem to do on the free account.

Oh and wtf apple?! They finally add in more text message tones and they are all ridiculously long and sound like they are out of looney toons.
