Its good for the kids or for teenagers, the resolution is pretty low.
agfa made a bad decision with this camera, one was having the resolution so low, 1024-768 would be much better, and also not have an option to increase the capacity,

Now I've got a question about this Iomega ZipCD 8x/4x/32x I'm trying to help a co-worker get this or the Sony Spressa 8x/4x/32x for a good price with coupon, rebate, and free shipping if possible. If she were to buy only the Iomega ZipCD from Staples.com has the $30 rebate expired or not? Or is it on special this week at Staples B&M for $109 with no rebate required? If someone can please answer my question I'd appreciate it.

I was hoping she'd get the Sony Spressa but it was out of stock at Onvia.com last night, the Buy.com $30 off $150 coupon keeps disappearing, and she can't find another $50 to spend in order to get $50 off $200 at Amazon.com. Guess I gotta tell her "you snooze, you lose!".

I got my camera today. No CDRW drive. I was pissed. I ordered it on the 14th, and I called them 2 days ago to make sure everything was ok, and they didn't tell me anything about the drive being out of stock. The packing slip said "Due to an inventory discrepancy we are unable to ship this item. I called Staples customer service and the CSR told me that they ran out of them. I asked if I reorder it will I still get the rebate (I knew the answer was no). She gave me the number to their rebate department. I called there, just to reinforce my point. Both items had to be purchased between 12/7 and 12/16. I called Staples customer service back and got a different CSR and told the story. I explained to her that there was no way I could meet the rebate requirements due to them not shipping me the drive. She checked with a manager and they gave me $100 credit back on my card. So, at this point, the camera is free and I am making $30 bucks on the deal. I am going to probably order a different CDRW (as I do need one) using a coupon code. I am eyeing up the HP 9350I. It's $229, there is a rebate from HP, I can use a $40 off coupon... Add the extra $30 I have from them my net cost for the drive will be about $70.

CRAP! The $40 coupon code I was going to use won't work and I already used the other one.

word of advice, the zip cd is really SLOW! it seems to burn at hallf the rated speed, and when i called a csr about this, all he could say was remove my raspppoe connection, which i called my 'web connection'
the thing seems to burn at 4x, I might have to ask for an exchange of somesort.... but I already but out the damned UPC!

what now? anyone have an idea on how to get this thing working?

thanks,

Steve

Words to the wise from sad experience.

i bought these two items, did the PM, applied my coupons and was waiting for delivery, promised after Christmas. Gave my kids a printout of the Staples pages since the items weren't here in time.

Well, Staples called to say that they had cancelled my order for the iomega burner as they were out of stock and would I please reorder. So I reordered.

Today, with nothing better to do waiting for the family to wake up, i started to do my rebates and find.....

this purchase is NO LONGER ELIGIBLE for the $100 rebate as the purchase date of the burner is beyond the rebate period!!

Now what do I do??!! Kids want their burner and camera and Staples just nailed me for $100!! I could spit nails!!

Kind readers advised that I a.) cancel the orders immediately and b.) call a CSR as they'll certainly straighten this out.

Well, it appears that advisor A is right and advisor B's faith in Staple's willingness to do the right thing is misplaced.

Talked to a CSR this am and found that "their hands are tied when it comes to mail-in-rebates." Can't do a thing for me.

So I complained in writing and pointed out that advertising a price, accepting an order, confirming a ship date via e-mail, and then cancelling to avoid a rebate is a form of "bait and switch," a retailer crime.

Little good it will do me....

But to quote the immortal words to live by of a member here, whatever his name is, "Staples is suck!!"

I received my $100 confirmation email yesterday.

hychka, you might try submitting the original copy of your sales order when you send in the rebate.

I figure I would give everbody an update on this deal. I have gotten all the confirmations from Staples that I put in for (including the $100.00 one) I haven't received them yet though.
It seems that users are complaining about the ZipCD well, Its not as good as my SCSI plextor
but it works ok with CDRwin as long as it stays on its own IDE bus. The camara is not the best digital camara, but it keeps my 12 yr old stepson amused and it DOES function as a web cam also,
so all in all, im very pleased with everything. The kid can take pictures till he drops, then put them on CD for his friends and family. The true value of all this (for me anyway) is helping a child become computer literate, and maybe, just maybe, helping develop a skill or interest that will be healthy for him to learn, as opposed to having him running amuck in the streets or watching cartoon network for 8 hours a day. I hope you all see that I do agree with what was said about the items not being top quality, but sometimes the value in it is not what you pay for the item(s). I hope everybody that ordered this gets the value from it that they want..:)

Actually, what I meant by the original sales receipt was the one with the correct purchase date. Usually, I just print the order status from the Staples.com web site. Even if the order was cancelled, the web site won't always update the status. Sometimes it's better to submit the paperwork and wait to see if it gets rejected at the rebate center. If it is, then you might have to call and explain the situation. I originally placed two separate orders for the items so I could use two coupons. The rebate didn't specifically state that both items had to be on the same order. I don't expect any problems, but if there are, I bet a phone call to the rebate center will clear it up.
