Iomega has recently launched a trade-in program that allows current Zip 100 owners to trade in their drives for a $54 saving of any Zip 250 products.

Now is the best time to upgrade to a Zip® 250 drive. Send us your old Zip 100 and you'll save big-and help out a school in the process!

The details: order your drive from our online store (choose from Zip® 250 USB, SCSI, Parallel Port externals; or ATAPI internal) at up to a $54 savings*. A postage label will be included with the new drive; box up your old drive, paste the label and ship it. It's that easy.**

Iomega will be donating remanufactured drives to schools in the United States. High-density removable storage options open a wide range of possibilities for students: from graphic and web design to music composition and video creation. These donated Zip® drives will allow teachers to offer a wider realm of study to meet the needs of today's students.

This offer is for a limited time only, so act now. You'll never find a better price on a better product. And you'll help a school. Everyone's a winner!

This is a great deal for Iomega: Sell the Zip 250 for what
is still a profit, get a free Zip 100 that they can give to
a school for a tax deduction AND cross fingers that the kids
at the school will all become converts to Zip drives and (ultimately)
buy them for their own systems, along with the media.

Good ploy by marketing, at the very least.

I wonder if they also want to reduce the number of zip100 in the field considering the court should finish ruling in the "click of death" lawsuit this summer.

I was tempted to dust off my old Zip drive (haven't used in months) to take advantage of this until I saw the prices. MAMA MIA! I agree with the earlier poster-better deal for Iomega than me.

I guess I will continue to use my five cent CDRs or CDRWs rather than this.

yeah. judging from the prices this isn't a hot deal because even after the savings from the old drive you can still find an oem drive cheaper in pricewatch.

Does anybody know if Iomega makes an internal ZIP 250 SCSI? They don't list it on their site, but then again, they don't list the internal ZIP 100 SCSI, which I happen to have.

Not to mention the fact that if you get a 250, you'll want to buy a bunch of the higher capacity disks.... after all, why upgrade the drive if you're still using 100's, eh? I have three 100's (SCSI, parallel, and an internal) and hardly use any of them since I got a CD burner...

kef7 and all others: Can I get some more info about the click of death? Mine does this and I do not use my 100mb zip drive anymore considering the fact that it has lost data on a zip disk of mine. I find CDRs more reliable than this pile. Please inform me of this lawsuit/courtcase. Thanks, I am subscribing to this.
