Hi

The deal from Staples was $179.99 (pricematch) - $40 coupon - $50 rebate (Total $90 + Tax!...Killer Deal, or so I thought!):

Ready to send in Iomega mail-in-rebate for the USB CD-R Drive.

Unfortunately, the UPC # doesnt seem to match up right for valid mail-in to Iomega!

Anyone get their Iomega rebate with last 5 digits not matching from Staples??

Thanks.

Here is the deal fellas.

IOMEGA has fubarred the situation.

Call this number in Young America and explain your dilemma. They will take down your info (ie name addres, etc.) They will give you an account in their computer system and mark it as pending receipt of your paperwork. They will also give you a different address to send it to. The rebate will be paid in full but you must call this number and set this up with them and then let them give you the info listed below.

1-800-510-2586

New Address:

IOMEGA Promotions Center
Department 3331-1
P.O. Box 4129
Mankato, MN 56002-4129

I say again I was told the rebate will be honored. This number was given to me by IOMEGA customer service. Hopefully this will take care of everyone.

GQ, the Predator is not available to ORDER, even, until Jan. 2001 according to Iomega website. The price (even w/ some "hot deals") will be > $200 most likely.

No, the deal is invalid. My cousin called and the CSR clearly stated that the upc doesn't match the rebate. nuff said. Don't waste you time with this product.

Me on the other hand will be waiting on th predator that will be availible next month. Its only a little more expensive but almost twice as thin. But definately alot nicer. I will also make sure that i look at all the fine print before purching if they have another rebate special.

Happy shoppings this holiday!

G,

Well I realize what you are saying but I have spoken with 2 different reps now at IOMEGA and 1 at the Rebate company and all said it will be honored as long as you follow the simple steps that I explained above.

Holy [deleted] that new Iomega Predator USB CD-RW looks NICE! Perfect for a laptop or if you need a portable CD-RW for desktop PCs.

$256.95? LOL let's hope the price gets adjusted when the product is officially launched.

Let's see do we want a $256 USB CD-RW or $180 internal TDK VeloCD 12/10/32 with 50 free CD-Rs? ;)

I just called the number listed above. The CSR said that they are not honoring the rebate on this drive. He explained that the drive from Staples was a newer drive and was not eligble for the rebate, no if, ands, or buts. Bummer....

i just called the number above and explained to her the problem. she did tell me that they will only offer that one listed UPC. so the 11128 does not qualify for that promotion (repeat). but then she read out some instructions on another piece of paper (blah blah blah). "if the customer purchases the item from another store and has seen the offer, they would have to honor it." So, the csr helped me created a file and i am to send my rebate form and upc to another address and i will get my $50 rebate. in all, i got my drive for $101. woohoo!

not to mention it takes 20 minuted to burn on these 4X cdrw and on the 15th minute you are going to have a buffer underrun and other goodies errors. No Thanks. rather get an external closure and get a plextor 12X with burnproof technology for less than $200

Are there any external burners with burnproof technology?

What is a burnproof technology anyways, how does it help burn cd's with out error

My situation mirror's GCS's exactly. My Iomega rep said pretty much the same thing. But you had to say that you heard of the rebate offer from the Iomega website, for some reason.

I needed to get an external cdrw for work so we could use it on multiple computers. But I also chose the Iomega because I thought it had burnproof. Whoops! It's an okay drive but it's slow as hell. Also, I use it on Macs at work and I had tons of problems getting it to work right. Had to download a couple of patches to make it work.

I suggest that unless you absolutely need an external, go for a faster burn-proof internal drive.
