I ran a search and saw some recent threads but here is how it works. You have to use the link below that I got from Crucial. $50.00 MIR good thru 1/5/02 not sure on the free shipping.

$189.95 less 15%=161.46=$50MIR=$111.46 net.

The shipping is free with $75+ order. I saw the debate from everyone but does Lite-On have "Burn Proof Technology"? The add on the Iomega site clamis that the drive has Burn Proof. I think this is a good deal if the drive is a reboxed Plextor.

Lite-On 16x with Burnproof (IT's there, support by both Nero and Creator) for 107 shipped (shipping and tax included) is a way better deal. Got mine in last week and it works great. BTW, it replace my crappy Iomega 12x (keeps on killing cds, even with burnproof), which to me was a piece of crap.

And NO, the Iomega 16X is not a Plextor.

just my 2c (with experience).

Right now, buy.com has this 16x for around 149. Add something small to the cart and then use a $15 off coupon. With the rebate, your cost is around $89 I believe. A few notes, I read from other people last week that the Buy.com Iomegas are now rebadged Lite-ons. They used to rebadged Plextor's, but went on back order back in June, and when they came back, people who received the new lot said they were Lite-ons....and did not have the cooling fans as did the plextors. I ordered from Amazon back in June and got a Plextor.... $89 for Lite-on?? Not too bad of a deal.
