CalebTG provided a live pic and a few stats on the Iomega drive"it flat out says on the drive it has burn-proof, and its face is identicle to the sanyo drive mentioned above, and Sanyo owns BURN-Proof technology"

a APSI layer referred by Dulanic

Windows 2000 solution: since the update software only works with win95/98, you can install the drive on a windows 95/98 computer, do the flash and upgrade, and install back to your windows 2000 computer.

from Windows 2000...I am not sure about that "only from Win95/98"
stuff.

Why are you posting this again? Hasn't this deal been over since Sunday? Or is the drive still on sale at Best Buy?

The new aspi layer really works. I had a scsi drive on a fireport40 and I was having trouble with cdrwin. Now it works fine.

Kward Guy, I've tried the winflash program and it does NOT work under windows 2000. Be sure you get the right version : version 3.2.7
The first post is for you guys who has already got the drive. I am still waiting for my drive from BB. :|

If you're still looking for this drive I wouldn't suggest Best Buy's website, it's crap! I ordered one on ThanksGiving Day because they ran out at Staples.com, so I figured the $150 is still good. They said wait 1-2 days before shipping. The price went back up and they started selling it for $179. Time past, my order was still in processing. Then they finally sold out, and now my order is backordered. I guess people they charged an extra $30 get priority. Oh yeah, they're no longer listing the drive... I'm wondering if I'll ever get mine from them.

I decided to go ahead get mine from Bestbuy.com, I tried to get staples.com to pricematch but they tried to charge me more than what bestbuy was selling it for, So that was my first and final attempt to buy something staples.com. Still at the $149 + Tax this is a great price. This is replacing my original 2x that I paid $1,007 for a couple years back and cdr blanks were about $10 Each.

this deal is still active? I couldn't find a way to get this deal work!
Staples CSR are too smart :< they always get different excuses, I think they have a "excuse script" right in front of their monitior.
Who acturally get this drive from staple $110?

Thats because it was last week. It was $150. And for that price there is no reason to go with the plex.... the Iomega does everything the Plextor does.... the ONLY downside is its DAE speed is slower.... but for $70 Ill take that.

Since Sanyo selling 16x burnproof in Japan, we will see it hit the North American market real soon. So I plan the price drop and able to buy the 12x iomega under $100 after staple coupon deal :), just like the situation on 8x market now, many kind of them are under $100.
yamaha is not really good deal FOR ME, cause as the tech. specification, it is partial cav drive and speed up to 16x after first 14mins, if you burn a cd under 14mins using yamaha 16x, I am SURE you never get the max speed, you start at 12x and speed up. so, 16x yamaha saying is a market trick only :(. So, iomega 12x is definitly a good choice with reasonable price. OEM same as plextor but the prices are always cheaper.
