How do you hook this up to your computer? DO you have to have USB 2.0 on your mobo?

yes it expands existing 2.0 ports into 4 ports. like a splitter on a phone line. it is external, not internal, not a pci card.

Its an external hub, mainly for laptops. This is a great price; I ordered 3.

The supports the hi-speed 2.0 transfer rate(480 mbps), unlike most ebay microhubs, which only support 1.1 and 2.0 full speed (12 mbps).

Went ahead and ordered one, although i expect them to not ship it out for about 2 weeks, typical buy.com behavior for these type of deals. Thanks for the deal though, OP.

Hey, does this come with a power supply or is it only powered by USB? The reason I ask is because my HP printer (stupid POS) will only work with the USB ports on the back of my case and real estate is getting crammed up (optical mouse, keyboard, microphone, etc)

TIA,
Phi

Must be USB powered. I've looked at a few places that sell it and none of them list batteries. Once place had the packaging and there's obviously no power cable.

great deal. ordered 2.. also.. any time i've ordered from buy.com.. i always choose the free ground shipping.. It still usually arrives 2 days later.

Concerning Bus power or AC adaptor. It works both ways, but apparently does not come with the power brick...

great deal, but are they serious with "Cables Included - 1 x USB cable - 2 in ", a 2in cable isn't that useful to reroute a crowded area

I have the black 1.1 version of this hub and it has a 2" cable on it. I would imagine it's for notebooks mainly, but I use it on the back of my pc since I don't have many ports to connect my printer and midi controller. so on a pc I would imagine it's for things you don't disconnect/reconnect often. very useful imho

I recieved mine today (much to my surprise). My only problem with it is that the attached USB cable is about 2 inches long, at best. I don't need it to be very long for use with my laptop, but a little more than 2 inches would have been nice. With the cable this short, it makes it impossible to plug in the back of my laptop and sit it on the desk next to the lap, but for $7 a good deal.
