Hello all,

Few months ago I built a system with the following component:

E6550 Core2Duo
2x1GB G-skill-6400
Asus P5B-VM SE - Intel G965 (Core 2 Duo/Extreme) PCI-E Socket 775 Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 7200 RPM $85.00
ATI HD 2400 Pro Video Card

with an InWin C583T (Black ) 350W w/ stock power supply that came with it..
In the beginning there was no problem at all but as time went
I started having booting problems..

When I pressed the power switch it boots up but turns off in few seconds then few seconds later it turns back on by itself. Once it powers up there is no problem ..but at first it only turned off once then back on and boot into windows, but as time went it started happening more frequently and now I have to press the power switch many times (powers up , shuts down power on, shuts down and after many times it turns back on by itself and boots into windows.. )Could this be a power supply problem while 350W is not enough to power up all these components
or other components might have problems?? Please advise me asap ..Thank you..^^

No your problem is that your 350w is really probably a 150 or 200w. In-win is pure junk. Get a real psu such as an Earthwatts 380w

Having to press the power button several times seems to be indicative of a problem with the PSU. Many, including myself, have this happen right before the PSU stops working completely.

The inwins aren't crap, they're just decent entry level units-

Before condemning the psu, unplug and replug all the power connections, checking to make sure there's no evidence of anything being loose. Also switch the leads to the reset and power buttons, so that the reset is now power, just to make sure that's not the issue...

Newegg currently has a nice rebate deal on the Earthwatts 380... in case you really need a new psu...

There are very few cases/PSI combo`s that have a good PSI bundled with the case!

You are almost always better off getting the case and PSU seperately!

Actually...splitting hairs aren`t we....crap....entry level......
Thats like saying that OKIA PSU`s aren`t crap they are descent entry level PSU`s?

lol

After reading the Xbit roundup, I'd have to say that for a basic build the "new" InWin units are just fine. The "old" ones are also fine as long as you don't load it anywhere near enough to make it blow up. :Q

That roundup is almost a year old now. I know that InWin makes a "new" 600W unit (though you can't find it anywhere). Someone I know won one of those (along with a case) at Quakecon, so they do exist.

You're trying to compare a toyota corolla to a yugo...

The inwins will do what they claim, generally last a long time, and are entirely suitable for systems as described in the OP, with room to expand somewhat. Add another hdd? sure, no prob. Fancy sound card? easily. 8800gtx vidcard? probably not... but that's not what they're designed to do...

The inwin case/psu combos are tough to beat for the money- they're very much at the point of diminished returns for the vast majority of computer builds...
