WHT Link: Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here
Like usual. :( I should find out why.

Give me a link to a different site with the info. :p

That is really bizarre, I would suggest using their helpdesk.

Include any previous usernames you used on WHT, your IP and the problem.

Is phpBB still incredibly slow for multiple users?

I'm using Invision v1.3.1 with a bunch of customizations. I swear, worst coding community ever. Everything helpful you might read is on the company's own goddamn forums which are unavailable to non-paying users. Thus I've had to tinker and make all adjustments by hand - a real PITA.

I didn't like the overly busy interface of IPB 2.x anyways. That's one area where I think FuseTalk has it right - forums are meant to be simple. It's just too bad FT is missing so many features.

I knew they were going to this eventually. They used to have a pay option but that allowed you to remove the IPB copyright info on the board. Guess how many people bought a license? Zero. I like IPB better than phpBB but it is nowhere near vB or even Fuse Talk is pretty good nowdays.

Really, phpBB is not really that great. I was developing a board a few years ago and in a few months, I probably amased half of what phpBB is today.

Anyone here going to pay for IPB?

If it were significantly cheaper ($39.95/yr with 1 year updates and support) then I would consider it.

I have been with Invision, PHpbb and Vbulletin. I can honestly say I like IPB the best. I know it is expensive compared to free but Matt Meecham has to be one of the better coding machines on the web.

Phpbb while a huge community almost never answered my urgent questions and I ended up fiddling with problems to fix them myself. Vbulletin support when I had them was very condescending (and expensive).

I can't get to the WHT forums either...says 'document contains no data'.....anyway, wasn't IPB 2.0 (trial) released for free for awhile? Just stick with that....why get FuseTalk - doesn't that require coldfusion which is not on most hosts?

PhpBB is best for free. I bought vBulletin for $160 and feel it's worth it. Loads fast and almost never any problems(all messageboard softwares have occasional "issues").

phpBB is like any OpenSource project. It works but it is not polished and it doesn't offer all the features that you can get from a commercial competitor. The thing is, that the guys who make these projects have no plan to even get it past just working. Polish is not on their adjenda. It is this reason I hate Linux geeks who radically advocate it when it has so much crappy software compared to Windows. Sure it may be free but most of open source software is not comprable.
