i thought ipb is still going to offer a free version of ipb 2.0? Although, I have no idea what the differences will be.

phpBB isn't bad. it feels like it's been in limbo for a long time now because of all the work they've been putting in 2.2 (right now it's 2.0.10) but they're finally going to have modules/plugins, it should be interesting.

If I was going to switch to a paid forum/portal I would buy the latest VB.

I've got several sites using phpBB, and I couldn't be happier. Glad I chose that over IPB from the beginning..

1.3 has more than enough features for me.

Whatever happened to ibplanet.com? or .org or whatever?

Have you tried it out yet?

Got a link to your web site using SimpleMachines?

I haven't installed it but I have contacted the admins (and posted on the boards) of 3 or four different boards using Simple Machines...I found some that I liked at: http://www.simplemachines.org/...ty/index.php?board=6.0

My dilemma is whether to use/buy another vBulletin or go with simple machines. I wish that I would have known about simplemachines before vBulletin but I've spent a few months working with vBulletin and since I'm a slow learner :D I should probably stick with attempting to master one board.

I really like vBulletin esp all the hacks/mods/skins out there available for it.

It's a shame that IPB 2.0 is no longer free, it was such a promising product.

I've used it in the past, I really like it. The administration options are excellent, superb, yada yada.

Don't have any of my sites actually online right now, so I can't link you to an example.

It still is a promising product. You just have to pay to use it. Invision has put a lot of time developing IPB. I have no problem with them charging a fee.

vB is still better IMO however...

In my opinion, dollar-for-dollar vBulletin is much better than IPB. I even think the support at vB is better than at IPB.

I too am a little miffed about IPB no longer being free. I'm currently looking for an upgrade for my forum.

I went from phpBB to IPB so now I'm looking for other options.
