Invisible Shield scratches?

What do you guys think?

I see all the videos showing how you can key the hell out of it and there's no scratch. Yeah It's amazing. I put it on my iPod and I tried to scratch it with my nails, and no good. It seems kinda soft and just bounces back even after you dig into it. Well after a few weeks or months, I see a bunch of scratches. Probably keys or something. I never put my phone/iPod with my keys though, so even if it's just a rare occasion, I guess that's enough to scratch it up.

Well I kinda gave up and the iPod and my old phone got scratched the hell out of until I decided to use the Invisibleshield replacement service.

With my droid 2 weeks ago I slapped on BodyGuardz (same thing as invisibleshield really... the benefit is you get like 2 for $15 so I can just replace on my own). Today I see a small scratch. Maybe something like a key scratched the film on top.

These things aren't that scratch resistant. However, I feel like all of them offer a lifetime warranty, and that we're really just paying for their lifetime replacement service and not for a high end protector. But I suppose that works for me. I'm a lazy guy. I like that they'll just ship me replacements....

They should make all surfaces out of whatever the iPhone screen uses. I had my iPhone for 2 years carrying in my pocket, and I have yet to scratch the screen. The body is kinda beat, but still -- the screen is immaculate.

my zune has taught me that all screens should be glass. but that kind of doesn't work with touch screens.

I have a generic screen protector for my Samsung Finesse and it works well, no scratches so far. Cost me like $3 online.

I bought a protector for my droid but haven't put it on yet. Namely because the thing appears to be a tank so far.

Not 100% sure but the newest iPhones/iPods are glass.

The original iPhone was glass I think, not sure about the new ones. I've heard people complain the newer models don't have an aluminum case/shell though but a plastic one.

Mine too, but I went ahead and put on the InvisaShield anyways. It seems to work OK. For reference, you probably only need the big sections to protect large flat areas. The little pieces that protect the tiny edges dont go on easily, and they collect dust. They also come off easily.

Don't know about the phone but the iPod g3 is definitely some sort of metal as it is laser etched with the logo/model/serial no.

I think I had a similar product (not Invisible Shield or BodyGuardz, but another knockoff) on my iPod Nano and it got a bit scuffed/scratched up over time as well. Not a big deal for me, though, because I mainly got it to keep the iPod from getting scratched up so it wouldn't be in bad shape if I decided to sell it later on.

The InvisibleShield product is one of the worst protectors I've ever seen. Between the awful orange peeling and moire effects, they are completely easy to scratch. They also have a disgusting sticky feel to them.

The only shield worth getting is made by Seidio, it goes on with static cling and is extremely resilient. The only issue is that it shows smudges more.

I cannot speak more poorly of the Zagg products, absolutely awful.

Wow, the InvisibleShield has been the best screen protector I've owned for my iPhone. I've tried a number of cheaper screen protectors and they would all scratch or start to peel within a few weeks.

Currently have been using an InvisibleShielf for two months, no scratches and still looks new. My only issue is that it's not as slippery as others or without which can be an issue with some games.

I can scratch them with a finger nail, thus creating a giant streak that now has the moire effect. Pretty awesome to have a rainbow streak across your bright white screen trying to browse. It's a giant racket, they guarantee them for life because no one with a life would bother trying to get a replacement for it.

???

That's stupid, if my InvisibleShield ever goes, I'll definitely get a replacement.

So, registering for a website, requesting a warranty replacement request, filling out said request, paying a shipping and handling fee, having your credit card pre-authorized for the full replacement price of the unit which is only refundable when they receive your damaged product and then waiting for your new protector, thus leaving your device unprotected and then waiting more for your refund sounds like it's easier than just going to the store and buying a new one for 10 bucks? Doubtful. It's a perfect scam for them because most people value their time more than that.

I just did it last week--it's not that difficult. BTW, competitors like ghost Armor, BodyGuardz, and a few others that use the spray on technique all offer this. I think of this whole thing as not paying for just a screen protector, but a lifetime replacement set. So while the protector itself is also different, I feel like I'm paying for a service too.

You have to ask yourself if it's really worth getting another one of the same product you just sent back for getting damaged though.

Anyway, for your droid, if you want the best screen protector out there get this:
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/spm1mtdd.htm

I battle tested them all and this one was the clear winner. I'm brutal to my phones and I have to take it out and put it through a conveyor belt scanner daily (work in federal building) for security purposes where shit gets super backed up, squashed, dropped and otherwise harmed. My droid slid down the metal catcher at the end of the conveyor belt on some guy's keys, jammed screen first into the protective wall then flipped over and fell 2 feet and not a scratch on the Seidio, lol.

I've had an Invisible shield on my iPhone for 2 years now and I've never seen that before. And I actually got it replaced because I accidentally gouged it with a key/rock which it was in my backpack. (It actually tore.) I went to their HQ, as I lived in SLC at the time, and had them set me up with a replacement. Cost me $5 bucks for them to take off the old protector, and put on a new one.

I'd send you my 3 separate, damaged Zaggs to see for yourself if I hadn't thrown them out.

I don't know man, I haven't had any problems with Zagg stuff. Yeah, there is that orange peel effect, but I don't see any of that with the screen on. My old cell phone has the same one on it for over 2 years now and it still looks pretty damn good.

As far as iPods go, I've seen a few that appear pretty scratched up. I don't know if they are being abused or if it's from keys, etc.

The Seido one did look interesting when I saw it a while back. How easy/hard is it to put on?

Way easier than that liquid bullshit + waiting for drying time. It goes on w/ static cling and I got mine on, on the second try. It takes a bit of TLC but once it's on you will never even notice its on. There's no orange peel or moire or sticky feeling. No waiting for air bubbles to make their way out, no blurry screen.

I'd buy the two pack cause you'll prob fuck up the first one.

How firmly affixed is the static cling? Would putting your phone into your front pocket cause it to slide a bit?

The liquid stuff is a huge f-ing PITA, but once it's on, it's cool. But I'm down with something easy that works as well. :D
