"Invisible" Car (Mercedes)

neat, but I want to see how well it works using those flexible OLED displays instead of a sheet of LEDs.

And thus it's born - the cloaking device.

State Trooper: "Dispatch, I've just clocked someone doing 120... starting pursuit."
Dispatch: "Confirmed..."
State Trooper: "WTF? I've got something doing 120 on radar, but there's nothing on the road!"
Dispatch: "Say again, officer?"
State Trooper: "???"

Reminds me of the invisibility cloak Japanese researchers were working on a few years ago (2003, University of Tokyo). Essentially active camouflage.

Are the led strips double sided? I did not see a camera on the side of the LEDs, but how is the driver supposed to see ANYTHING on their left side?

That would be so epic when it is militarized for soldiers. The biggest issue would probably be a power source. Couple that with a sound deadening device and bam! real life crysis.

don't think the issue with the bomber is that people see it.

I wonder why MB would even bother with research into this.

The problem with the B2 was that flying through rain, it left a large enough reflectivity "hole" in the rain to be picked up easily by radar.

This was my idea.

As a kid I was fascinated with invisibility, and the only solution I could come up with in my mind was miniature cameras and tv screens that transmitted images "around" an object. To this day I still remember pestering my grade school teacher about it.

But I grew up in BF town, with BF people. He just dismissed me as a dumb kid who watched Star Wars too many times.

God, I wish I had grown up somewhere else.

That's awesome! In the second scene where it's behind the planters, you can barely notice it even with the video paused. It just looks a little blurry in that area. I'm sure it's easier to pick out in person, but cool none the less.

Once OLEDs become cheaper this should be more "practical" to do.

Unless you're about 80 years old, I'm pretty sure a sci-fi author or two beat you to it.

My point wasn't just about this concept.
Hell - I had what i thought were cool ideas on an almost daily basis. But if you grow up with the drones your chances of realizing your potential are severely hampered.

Yeah you can grow up blaming everyone else for your lack of implemented innovation or you can spend your life going broke trying.

There's a reason they call them the 1%. Do something about it or stfu.

disclaimer: I am not the 1%.
