Investment/Stock question

I see some parallels between the U.S. today and the U.S in the 1970's. Does anyone know how I can research investments of the 1970's. I want to find out what investments did well in a time when there was a Real Estate bubble, expensive fuel, war, and a period of little stock movement. Can anyone point me to a site where I can find what investments did the best during this time?

Thanks,

Joe M.

Technology stocks did real well in the next decade, but I doubt we will see another revolutionary technology stock boom like that again.

You can't ever really go wrong with the energy market. As for finding stats about stocks in the 70s... I have no idea.

http://finance.yahoo.com has split-adjusted historical prices. Dunno how accurate it all is, plus it is very cumbersome to get lots of data from there. Good luck finding what you want for free (hint: you probably won't).

Probably the easiest way is to go to the library and ask a reference librarian to help you find what you're looking for.
