Intro to Synth Composition?

I've always have compositions going off in my head, but since I lack 10 hands and 10 feet, it is not really possible unless I go synth. I realise this would require midi equipment, but they are seriously expensive. I have a lot of music theory from violin, but my piano skills are mediocre. I'm mostly into 'dream' trance from the mid 90's. Seems like most of the trance current is ... not what it used to be. Anyways, Any have any comments?

How about mixing software? I already have an 0404 for midi connections 😱 anyone have a good site?

Tried Fruityloops at all? (not for mixing, of course)
Someone posted free audio editing software a little while back, but the name eludes me.

^ ; looked at fruity loops. looks alright, seems like composing on it will take a while. couldn't even find a classical piano on it!

An intro to Synth:
Lives in Texas
Came up with the term "Night Crew"
Has first class tickets on the 'gay cruise'
Dreams of jello every night.
Is hawt. :lips:

LMFAO, how did I miss this? 😀

I don't know. <cough>

My brother is using Gigastudio (software-based with massive samples) for some of his music. Older versions are fairly cheap and require less powerful CPUs (one version needed under 1 GHz)

FruityLoops or Reason would probably be good to start off with. they're all-in-one packages and you'll probably find most of what you need. plus there's a lot of people using them so it's easy to find tips and advice on using them

or if you want something more "higher end" then there's Sonar and Cubase. you'll probably need to get some of your own sounds if you want to use them, like samples or an external sound source
