Sorry.... I have been using online tutorials but I am not that good. I thought a class might help me out with the basics.

<< Would a college drawing class help me draw anime? >>

Not really. Can you draw at all? The only way to learn to draw is by practice. You can take a class and the teacher will tell you this and that, but it all come down to practice. If you want to draw anime, take pictures you find and try to draw in the anime style. I wouldn't recommend just copying it exactly, but if it helps go for it. Just be sure that you DO NOT TRACE. That will not help your drawing skills at all. Just draw any time you can as well . It may take a while, but believe me it's worth it.

<-------studying to be a comic book person (pencils, inker, I don't know)

....I mean, if you can really be STUDYING for that type of job. Lots of practice is right. Talent helps. Take the class, doesn't it makes sense?? Taking a drawing class will help you draw in general.

In the end I want to do computer generated movies. I need to take the drawing class anyway for that purpose, but I want to draw anime on the side for fun. I want to write and direct the movies eventually but this is a good start.

<------------ Actually a good writer, although it doesn't show on AToT.

I have never seen someone who has "learned" to draw, i've seen people with talent get better but never someone learn to draw.

You need to learn everything ou do, you just don't start doing stuff out of the blue. Take basketball for instance, some people are really good when they start, but someone has to tell them how to shoot, block ,etc.

I do not think an art class can teach you how to be an artist, but if you already have talent it can teach you some techniques.

Completely untrue, especially for something like art.

One day my sister picked up a pencil tried to draw something drew it with amazing accuracy, never had a class in her life. She just has natural talent when it comes to drawing.
