Interviewed for a job yesterday. Should I call them and ask to see if I got it? EDIT: GOT THE JOB!

They said they would call me back by today (or tommorow)... It's a summer internship at a university and I think they only had 3 candidates. Should I call them to show I really want the job, or should I just sit and wait?

It's now mid-afternoon on Friday. 1pm. Call them? What should I say? Just say hi, I'm Simon, the guy you interviewed two days ago..??

EDIT: Got the job guys! Thanks!! :D

If you want to send an email thanking them for the interview, I think that would be fine. Otherwise, the day's not over yet so don't call.

If you have it they will call. A company has never wanted to hire somebody and forgotten to contact them.

If you have to call, call and thank them for the interview.
Actually, you should have done that sooner, but it should still be okay today.

You need to like do this immediatly after the interview, like from a blackberry in your car. In many places, they hold vote meetings right after the interview team has interviewed you - like at the end of the day. A letter/call the day after will not get you anywhere or influence the voting.

Actually apparently they have... When the wife-to-be went in for the prelimary paperwork there was a woman there ranting and raving. Apparently she had gotten the job, but somehow no-one told her. They claimed they called but got no answer. The woman went on about having caller id, and voicemail and there was nothing on it. She found out that she got it when the supervisor called to find out why she never showed up for work.

Edit -
And the Thank You can go out email, but mail is preferable for competitive jobs anyway, and it should have gone out already. It should have been the first thing you did after leaving.

I left them a call to say thanks for the chance, etc.

They told me they would finalize before 4.

THey called me and I got the job guys. :)
