That's odd that you connected with the company directly, did interviews and they didn't tell you 'til the end it was with RHI. Usually the staffing agency searches for candidates, interviews you first, then sends you to interview with the company.

That's more common, but it doesn't make payrolling through a contracting company odd. A friend of mine payrolls about 15 employees for MS.

my personal experience with Robert Half was they put the job postings and I talked to them, and did an assessment test, before I went and interviewed at the actual company.

they were good about meeting my needs and looking for something I'm actually interested in. i had a really good experience with them. i actually got an offer the day after i had the interview with the actual company.

i was hired as a full time employee though not a contractor so it's a tad different than your situation.

Robert Half. fuck those guys. i went in for an interview, declined their offer. guy said hang on, i'll be back with something else and he fucking forgot about me. I just sat in a little office for a while till someone came by and asked what i was doing there. walked down to the guys office and the fucker was on the phone with his feet kicked up on his desk. "oh, sorry about that". i just waved and left.
And the icing on top of the cake was this was downtown, and a bigass snow storm had just started dumping snow. the whole damn city was gridlock. took 3 hours to get home for a usually 20 minute drive.

I recently graduated from graduate school and came across a job posting on my school's career board. The position seemed great so I sent in my resume and went through three rounds of interviews. During the interviews, I was told that they are looking to hire "trainees" (basically contractors) and if they are good, they will be given permanent offers.

I received the offer from the company and they said someone from Robert Half will call me. I spoke to the person from Robert Half and they will be paying my salary and will offer contractor benefits. I will also have weekly calls with this person to discuss how I am progressing.

Can anyone clue me in? Are they going to take a large percentage of what I was offered (RH was not involved in the process at all til the end)? Is this a normal process for a contractor to permanent type situation? Why does the company involve Robert Half?
I was recently employed by Robert Half Technology as a Systems Administrator on contract for a large client here in Vegas. I left after 6 months due to being grossly underpaid and receiving a better offer elsewhere. The job I’m in now pays me market rate for my skills and experience, approximately 33% more per year than Robert Half did.

I’ve been in IT since 1997, the vast majority of that time was spent as a full time employee at 2 large orgs, one private, one public. Contracting was something I’d done when I entered the field just out of college, and my experience with Robert Half recently reconfirmed what I’d come to learn about these types of companies back in the day: they’re good places for people to start, but rarely will experienced folks see anything close to what they’re truly worth. That’s mostly due to the massive amount of overhead. It takes money to keep the lights on and all those recruiters, secretaries, and managers employed.

My contacts at Robert Half were very professional and polite. I just didn’t like the fact they couldn’t budge on my pay rate.
