Oh look, the old "socialist" tripe from a conservative whose movement that can't come up with a health care plan after 7 years, and whose supply side experiment has failed in Kansas spectacularly and conclusively, and whose policies are turning red states into third world countries. Meanwhile "Marxist" schooled California is kicking ass and automating the crap out of your stupid jobs. How about bringing down the most revered iconic/democratic symbols of America, like the POTUS or even the election process? There are plenty of different ways to skin a cat, Russia has already put a major dent in the American idols of democracy & free n'fair elections by doing what they did.

While I understand your sentiment, and share your frustration with Republican voters clinging to their prejudices and fears while their own communities spiral into the abyss due to lack of education and dwindling job prospects, comments like this certainly wont help them see the error of their ways.

Thank you for saying this. I don't bother posting anymore because every thread devolves into the same nonsense. It is refreshing to occasionally see someone take a balanced perspective.

It assumes that Republican voters can be reasoned with. But every time they are presented with anything that contradicts their world view, they cry "fake news." They can be reasoned with the same way cattle can be reasoned with. Through pain. When the Republicans gut the safety net, us techies automate away their jobs, and big pharma they love so much get their kids hooked on dope, the pain will ramp up to a level where they will beg for Socialism, and it will be us coastal "Marxist" elites telling them to slow down and not throw the capitalist baby out with the bath water.

The epidemic you speak of extends well beyond red states. The former manufacturing cities of coastal CT, the Inland Empire, Bakersfield, Oakland and most of industrial NJ, upstate NY and even MA are facing similar challenges, and the Democrat firewall will continue to splinter.

Good to know that the tech oligarchs are as heartless as their industrial and financial predecessors. I see a Butlerian jihad as a likely future.
