So yesterday night (Thursday) there was an info session for the consulting company I was supposed to interview with today. Only about 4 other people showed up out of the 26 people that had interviews today though..so it was a very interpersonal interactive session between the 5 of us and two interviewers. We all asked plenty of questions and they were all very responsive.
Today then I arrive at the last interview for the day (it was on campus) and I interviewed with one of the recruiters from the day before. I was happy to see him because I'd already knew him and he kind of knew me already..so we go back and he asks me some basic questions about my location preference, if I'm willing to travel, etc..then he asks me a few relatively basic interview questions..:
a) how do you define leadership, what makes a good leader, and how have you demonstrated it
b) why you want to do consulting and how you got into it, and
c) what are the top three things you look for in a consulting position
I didn't even go over any of my job experience or anything else from my resume..but I think I did pretty well on those asked, as they were questions I was kind of expecting (particular the 2nd and 3rd ones), and my extracurricular stuff prepared me well for the first one. After that though, he had me ask him questions, which I only about three of since we covered a lot of stuff the day before in the 2 hour session.
I was in and out then in under 20 minutes, and the interview was scheduled for 30..he was very friendly and there was joking around and stuff..he hands me a business card and we say goodbye.
So is there any reason an interview would be shorter than the expected time? It seemed almost too easy..on the positive side I'm thinking if I were an interviewer and I liked a candidate, I wouldn't really want to grill him/her with any incessant tough questions, but on the same level if I didn't like him/her I wouldn't want to spend any more time than necssary.
Ahhh the suspense..
