Okay, I figure this is a good place to get some advice.

Basically, we all know there are sucky interview questions you get asked and many times the answers you give may sway the verdict. I have an interview coming up, a pretty important one, and I want to hear some of them and some answers that wont screw me.

The one that comes to my head as the most dreadful is name your worst quality. If your too honest, your screwed... but if you say it the right way or give the right answer you can be golden. Anyone have a good answer that make you not sound like a loser. Any other questions you can think of along that line...

When they ask you what your biggest flaw is, punch the interviewer in the face. Tell them that punching people in the face is your biggest flaw. That is the worst interview question ever. Only an idiot asks that question.

Or you could say something lame like "I lose track of time and work long hours" and look like a tool. But I'd rather take a job at a company that doesn't suck.

It is a horrible question, but i know it gets asked. There are others as well that are on the same level.. and they suck too...

The general concensus is that you should answer in a way that makes you look good (i.e. the way I just did), but if I were the interviewer that would automatically flag you as a dirty, dirty liar. Everyone has a REAL flaw that is worse than any flaw that makes you look good. FWIW I've never been asked that question, but I've only had interviews with 3 companies.

Say "When I am deeply immersed in a task, I tend to forget about other things." It doesn't make you look bad, but it also doesn't make you sound like a liar.

Don't make the guy sweat. That's not cool. (Unless the position requires the ability to handle stress.)

Screw the 'personality' questions. They don't tell you anything anyways. Check that he has the skills or the competence to do the work. Then make casual talk, ask him about his interests, etc., and see if you think you can get along with the guy. Last thing you want to do is hire a coworker that'll make you dread coming to work every morning.

if you interviewer is a man... and assuming a few other things

Tell them that you can be pretty sexist at times towards women who can't perform their job but you still treat them with respect no matter how illogical they get.

If you tell it in a semi-serious, semi-joking way, he'll like you for being honest (almost all guys think this way), you have a similiar trait that your interviewer can relate to, and the last part shows that you can show restrain towards inferior people (not just women).

....but then the job I have is dominated by men to begin with. I was asked "What qualities do you think you be able to improve on yourself" and I wasn't about to say "I am perfect."

The only reason they ask that is to see if you've prepared for the interview or if you're a noob. A noob would say something negative about themselves. A seasoned interviewee will BS their answer to make themselves look good.

Sometimes good info comes out of a noob. "I smoke too much weed." "I'm lazy." "I can't spell."

Just tell them you are vulnerable to kryptonite. Everybody will laugh and then move on with the interview.

I usually say that I either have a hard time working on a team of individuals whose standards aren't up to mine; or I have a hard time taking a break when I am working.

It's a stupid question - the only way to answer it "right" is to lie. Do I want an employee who came to an interview prepared to lie, or someone who gives me an honest answer? I'd want the latter. Most companies apparantly prefer the liar, which I think is kind of stupid. That's why I think it's a bad question - you reward people for lying.

Fortunately I've never worked for a company that sucks.

Umm...that is quite possibly the worst idea I have ever heard.
