I have a job interview on Monday and the manager said (by phone) the dress code is "business casual"

Should I just wear a suit or should I wear business casual?
I want to make a good first impression.
Any help would be appreciated.

yeah, if he specifically said business casual then don't wear a suit

nice collared shirt, tucked in of course

slacks and nice dress shoes

No suit! It looks like you are trying to hard to impress him if the dress code is "business casual". :)

I decided to go with MisterT's suggestion:
"wear a blue button down collared shirt, a pair of black slacks and black shoes "

Wish me luck :)

you should be fine with that.

where i work is business casual and a little more strict than most. for men, we have to have a collared shirt, khakis or slacks, and decent shoes (no tennis shoes, sandals, flip flops, open toed, etc).

Good Luck.

You probably already know this, but just in case (and for others as well):

Make sure to get a haircut, shave, and make sure your fingernails are clean and trimmed!!! Watch your body language carefully. Ask a friend to see how you sit and if you have any mannerisms that are distracting and that you don't know about.
