Interview question

During on-campus interviews (for internship) is it better to get the first slot of the day, last one, or the one right before lunch? Or am I overthinking this and it doesn't really matter at all (I'm currently signed up for the first slot of the day)?

depends on how good you are at being interviewed i'd say
if you've got great social skills, and are well prepared, go for the end of day

but in reality, if they're doing all day interviews - they'll be working on an interview note and score system and it probably won't make a bit of difference.

I guess you could say they're doing all day interviews. They start at 9:00 and end at 2:00 with a 1.5 hr break from 11:30 - 1:00.

I don't think I have great social skills but I'm pretty good at relating to authority figures and can hold my own in a conversation.

There's way too many undercurrents with interviews:

Being engaged = Showing stability
Waiting to graduate before marrying = Organization and planning skills
etc...

I wasn't sure if being the first of the day showed eagerness and being last show laziness or what...

actually these things do matter. last slot before lunch is bad, the interviewer is probably hungry and maybe irritable. first one after lunch is good. first one of the day is good. the interview right after the biggest loser you know is the best one possible 😉

they can't ask you questions about your being engaged or waiting to graduate before marrying...so you'll have to digress from an open ended question in order to let that info out

don't worry, typical body questions of an interview are open ended so you WILL digress and tell them things they can't ask about

Heh, the signup just opened up at midnight and I'm the only that's taken a slot so far. Since I have my choice, I wasn't sure if my choice mattered.

I'll definately avoid the one directly before lunch. 🙂

It's almost guaranteed to come up since one of the "questions" on the application asks about my personal and work-related goals, needs, wants, hopes, etc... 🙂
