Just walk in the door and ask the interviewer if he would be interested in buying an extended warranty, you will be hired on the spot.

That's right, and remember that they place big emphasis on loss prevention (theft)

Wipe the powdery substance off your nose before the interview. Not sure if it's coke or sugar from a donut. 😉

Best of luck to you! 🙂

This is the correct thing to do.

i agree. when they turn you down, ask why? then try to sell them accessories. when turned down tell them the computer is out of stock

That, quite frankly, is hilarious. 😀

Business casual would be alright.
Unless you are going for some uber important position, which there are none unless you are working for coporate.

dockers and a polo got me my job. And they started me at $9.45/hr 🙂 (not bad for 17)

?????slash?? what was your job there?

Wear light colored khaki's, NOT cargo, and a polo shirt.

I make more than that... (during my 2-3 hours a week there..)

I'm just curious...how many of you who bash Best Buy make more than I do at $23/hr? Now I of course realize there are plenty who do, but for a job while I'm in school it's not bad. And for the record, I despise those stores who practice sh!tty tactics like the ones described in this thread.

Took me awhile bu it all paid off. They work around my school achedule without question, $2500 of school expenses paid for per year, 401(k), full benefits, employee stock purchase plan, vacation pay, and 15% bonuses paid on pretty easy performance goals. Add that to the dsicount and it's a decent setup. Only thing that sucks is dealing with the dirty underbelly of the public sometimes and the stereotype that all Best Buy employees are idiots. I'll definitely agree that a good portion of the stores are horribly run but each location is different.

are you a department supervisor? how long did it take you to set this thing up, you PM me if you don't want to post pertinant info

Hmm, I've worked at a couple of BB locations and I have to say, dont even go for the job. They are a horrible company to work for. I only worked for them while I was in school, and I dont think I knew a single employee that actually liked the company. Well, there were a few but they were the ones that really thought the service plan was the roxor.

Yeah I am a supervisor. I started part time sales in June of 1999, went full time a couple months later, and worked until Sept 2000. I left for awhile and came back in May 2001 as part time. Went full time in June, made a Senior in July and a Sup in January. Worked as a Sup for a year and left again in Jan 2003. Came back last month as a part timer (again), and made full time 3 days later and now a sup (again). I keep leaving thinking it will better outside the box but no one can offer me as much as they can in terms of money, benefits, or convenience. My store is 1.5 miles from my house and 2.5 miles from school. I have a good management team who allows me to run my business as I see fit and so I have the opportunity to do right by my customers while keeping an eye out for department profits. I like it.

Go wearing gold jewelry and dark sunglasses. And if you see a Sales Supervisor that is wearing the same thing as you............. run!!!!
