You didn't READ ANYTHING. Directv is just sueing people by acquiring SHIPPING receipts. They have no proof of anything but are sueing people in CIVIL court. They don't have to prove you are guilt without doubt, you have to basically prove you are innocent.

You can throw it away but that doesn't help you. Most people are NOT fighting because it would cost them more than $3000 to fight DirectV in court. They are just paying the ransom.

Do I think you will get in trouble over this device? Not really but I was just trying to give you a heads up. Understand what can happen when just ordering a device like this. This would not be possible if it didn't mess with an encrypted signal. The DMCA has given these companies a lot more power to go after people. Sometimes for valid reason but A LOT of times for no good reason at all.

Yeah I appreciate your heads up. Then again I don't blame DTV in a way. There's a helluva lot of piracy going on. It's a practical joke where I live, everyone has one of those fixed smart cards on their receivers.
