If I recall correctly, a few years ago scientists were able to create a rabbit-carrot hybrid (it seems like the end result basically looked like a carrot). Apparently the two species are very genetically similar. I did a couple of quick Google searches, but came up empty.

And therefore, while it's OK to date members of other races, you should NOT make babies with them.
NEVER breed outside your species...

A friend (ironworker) explained it to his son like this:
"look at the jungle,
you see lions with lions,
tigers with tigers,
leopards with leopards.

Plain with plain,
stripes with stripes,
spots with spots.
Breeding outside your species is against Nature and God...

So I asked him to explain the "liger" and "tigon" to me...

Tell him that he is just an inbred variant of a tribe from north africa.
And that human "races" do not count as species.

Sorry I know you were just making fun of the guy, but for us "mixed" folks this is kinda insulting. Where do we fit in the racially pure world?

How does this relate to animals being more edible!?

Could you imagine your favorite meats being combined in one animal?? Some CowPig thing or some kind of omni-sushi!

It's possible for them to have intercourse, but it's not possible for the animals to breed in almost all cases.

One exception would be Horse + Donkey = Mule

Though....mules are not capable of reproduction.

Dogs and Wolves/Coyote's can interbreed and their offspring are fertile.

There are also Ligers, and Tions(?)

1) Can they physically mate (which can be bypassed by artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization...ect ect). While genetically, a toy poodle and a great dane could produce offspring, physically it just isn't going to happen (and if it I'd feel sorry for that poor poodle)
I had a 15 pound terrier when I was growing up. He was 13 years old and my dad had let him outside to run around the neighborhood. My dad said he didn't know where he went, so he started looking around for him and found him across the street... Our neighbor had a great dane and our dog had somehow coaxed this huge dog to lay on its back while he did the deed.

....the owner took his dog to the vet the next day to get her 'fixed'. Just saying, any breed can mate with any breed...

Well the point I was making was that a male giant dog (dane,mastif...ect ect) wouldn't be able to physically mate with the female tiny dog (dachshund, terrier, poodle). The other way around, like you mentioned, can happen.

Racially pure? Where? (outside of Hitler's dream world anyway)
I guess I qualify as "mixed myself...russian, Irish,Scotch and Sioux. (actually the largest part of my ancestry is American "Indian.")
