Interrupting long win2k shutdowns = bad???

My win2k shuts down extremely slow if i've had the comp on for days. sometimes i get pissesd and just hit reset:p is that bad?

Yeah, that's bad. If you interrupt the OS while it's saving the registry your system will become an unhappy camper. When you get old like me you won't be so impatient. :D

Yes because you have no idea what's in the disk cache that 's not on disk yet, one of the last things it does is flush the dirty cache buffers to disk before it shuts down. If you interrupt that you run a high risk of losing data, normally it's just your profile but it could be anything you recently had open.

Heck if you're going to do that why even bother shutting it down - just pull the plug. ;)

ah k, guess i'll have to restore from image soon... comp isn acting more and more stupid lately:p its just that sometimes win2k takes absurd amounts of time to shut down:p
