Interrupt Mode, APIC or PIC?

I just built a system with an Asus A7V600-X motherboard (VIA chipset). Now, I need to know whether I should set the interrupt mode to APIC or PIC.
I intend to run Win98SE for a short while, then WinXP Pro until I get another HD then I will dual boot with Win98SE and WinXP Pro.
Any ideas?

You have a PNP aware OS setting or a setting for ACPI? ACPI is what you're really after, not APIC or PIC. If you have no other choice then APIC.

Well, I wanted to make sure it would be compatible with Win98SE so I set it at PIC. Anyway, my computer works (currently with WinXP Pro installed).

That probably wasn't the first choice, but it's a somewhat permanent decision. If you are working, DON'T change it. You'll break. 😀
