I don't do mine for a couple of years as I'm going part time but my sister got an internship to work at the state assembly.

Had an internship with IBM as a co-op software engineer a couple years ago. Paid pretty well.

You should quit.

Mine wont be. Work the Jail, train with SWAT, help serve warrents, help the investigators, go on patrols, work with the drug unit and k-9 unit. And possibly get paid...wow, your internship sucks.

I had a couple of internships at a .com a while ago. So yes, it was pointless. I was actually one of the 'engineering' interns and there were also 'marketing interns'. I did some of the marketing stuff, too, like making bumper sticker designs with photoshop, work at a booth for 4th of July for a convention in San Francisco, etc.

Quit your whining!! Sometimes its not always about being productive in whatever you are doing. Be sure to recognize the fact that you are "networking" with people and I believe thats the most important thing.

What would you love to do at necn? Ask them if you can do someting fun or more exciting. You never know, the person who's your boss might want to pass you off to someone else anyway, never hurts to try.

If they won't let you, tell them that you've both wasted enough mutual time and go do something that you'd like more.

I love my internship. It exactly what I imagined myself doing when I started engineering. I get paid well and the experience I'm gaining is simply priceless. By the time I graduate I will have approximately 5 years of real work engineering experience with a large company. That gives me advantages that other graduates can only dream of.

This intership is probably the best thing that could have happened to me.

Right now more technitian-type work; some board layout, a lot of prototyping and some testing. I also do a lot of modifications/updates to existing components/circuits.

I am an intern. I do as much if not more work than some full time employees and have more responsibility than some of them also. I work with a specialized team doing testing work on leading edge technology. It looks good on a resume, but I really dont find it that interesting and I dont get paid well. Actually, my boss just outlined this huge project that I am going to be in charge of that will last like 6-8 months.

Yup, I knew an intern there as well. She was getting 15 an hour plus overtime. Half of her day consisted of her gabbing on the phone as well.

Free internship you say...I wonder if I can get a free intern to clean up my apartment and make lunch and dinner for me every day.

WTF anyone does free internship programs is beyond me? All it is is a body to do work that no one else wants to do.
