I have a decent DSL connection, and it usually does the trick for me. I visit webpages and all the images are loaded, no waiting for the bottom half of the page to load, etc. My downloads take a while, but I can clearly see progress, and it is greater than .1% every 10 minutes.

Recently my internet speed has bummed out. Downloads that used to be quick are now taking forever with no apparent progress. Whenever I visit webpages there is some plain text, and it takes a minute for all the images to get loaded and for me to actually be able to view the website. Then, if I have 2 tabs in firefox and I decide to go to anandtech.com in one and some other website in another, it takes forever for both pages to load.
When I open up task manager and click networking, it shows .43% network utilization. This is during a huge download.

I used to be able to download a game like America's Army and while that is downloading visit websites. Now there was a noticeable slowdown, but now it is impossible for me to even do that.

I maintain a relatively clean computer. I run ad-aware and spybot, Norton Antivirus, Windows Firewall, etc. I have tried turning off all of my firewalls and my internet is still painfully slow.

Anything I can do to fix this guys?

What is your down/up speed if you do a BW test on pcpitstop.com? Make sure you test when you're not downloading anything on either PC.

Do you have the same problem on the other PC?

Without any downloads running, my "Download BW" was
Download speed: 195 kilobits per second
Test details: 101 kilobytes downloaded in 4.125 seconds.
Receive buffer size: Not available

195kbps = about 24.375KB/sec

What is the advertised speed for your DSL connection? Do you know how far do you live from a telco switch? This seems awfully low for any DSL service, IMO.
Do you know if your or the telco company has done anything to the phone lines?

You may want to run the speed tests again one or two more times to make sure that's pretty accurate. You can also try: http://www.dslreports.com/stest
and report back with the results.

Im actually not sure... I've had it for ages. I just downloaded a tool from the Verizon website, and it started off at 46kb/sex, and now it is at 35kb/sec. Still, I would love to see the speeds that I used to have before my internet got slowed down.
