This site has a "backup" of older internet pages, so it would be kind of a museum!
for instance: Anandtech's hardware tech page from 1998.
My search for anandtech.com. Some more dates so we can watch the transition over the years.
a quote from march 1999:
<< Ack! - 03/01 04:36 PM - Anand Lal Shimpi
I just got home about 10 minutes ago, and it looks like the AnandTech mail server is back up and running because I just downloaded 4 days worth of email...and to get an idea of how much mail that is, I've skimmed through most of the unique headers and I still have 749 messages that I haven't even taken a look at.
Apparently there was a problem with the server this morning, but since I was at school I couldn't really do anything about it (I didn't even know about it until I read the 50 "you're an idiot" emails about the server problems, sorry guys). I'll try and see what's going on as soon as I get myself situated.
Now I know all of you BBSers must be wondering what's going on with the registration process, and to tell you the truth, I have no idea. The AnandTech BBS has reached a whopping 4600+ registered members and it seems like the database is going insane with the influx of new members. I hope I won't have to nuke all of the user files, but I'll stay up all night tonight working on it (I've got an English research paper that deserves some attention first) after I publish the Diamond Savage4 Preview. I apologize for any inconvenience (apologies seem to be the tone of this post, no?)
Let's see...what else is new, hmnn...oh yes, I had an interesting time with Kryotech on Thursday and then again on Sunday. What did we get accomplished? Well, we confirmed a tiny problem with the design of the Cool K6-3 500 system (engineering flaw, it has been addressed and should be corrected in the shipping models) so the K6-3 500 review (and benchmarks) should be up on AnandTech in the next week or so. I'll have a nice P3 vs P2 vs K6-3 vs Celeron vs K6-2 (maybe) @500MHz comparison in the review as well, it should be a promising article. Is the $1295 USD price of the Cool K6-3 500 too rich for your blood (I couldn't help but use that phrase, it'll never happen again
...)? Well, I've been playing with the Kryotech Renegade cooler which is a room temperature cooler for your Pentium II, Celeron, or Pentium III that looks very nice at around $370 - $430. Expect a review of that shortly as well. And we also have the long awaited SDRAM comparison that's still in the works (now with some PC133 samples as well).
As usual, I've just realized that this is an extremely lengthy update (eek...sorry...there's that apologetic tone again) and I'll get back to that research paper and reviewin' the latest goods for you all to enjoy.
Take care everyone, and I know that at least for me, this was a very monday-ish Monday
