Fact is, internet voting has serious security issues. That does not outweigh the convince. Sure things are far from perfect, internet voting is not the solution.

I like the idea of voting online... my problem is that means more of the young people will vote... and the young millenials are a wee bit across the retard line.... So then I quickly revert back to no, no online voting.

Because security cannot be guaranteed. Those claiming it's the same as paying bills (who'd want to pay YOUR bill online?) are ignorant. Too many smart people can get around the online voting security and compromise it. Everything is hackable now days. Banks, governments, etc.

No, we shouldn't have internet voting because there isn't the privacy of the voting booth.

With internet voting someone can be looking over your shoulder to make sure you're voting the "correct" way; be it a religious leader, abusive spouse, over controlling parent, etc. There's less protection from groups having undue influence over a person's right to choose for themselves.

Having a centralized government-run voting location is the best guarantee of protecting the right of a secret ballot.

We have a giant dinning hall like room with tables and chairs. We fill out paper ballots in the open, and no one gives two !@#$s about theirs or anyone else's.

Your example maniac could easily achieve the same thing by forcing those people to vote via absentee ballot. Your example is so far fetched especially when considering how much good easy voting would be for voter turn out.

Oregon has had mail in voting for every election for fifteen years. There is precisely zero evidence of any of the above doomsday scenarios occurring.

When I see news stories of dopes in other states standing in huge lines I laugh because of how unnecessary it is.

I vote no because I don't like the idea of people being able to vote. We should only allow superdelegates to decide who our leaders are.

Being able to buy or sell millions of dollars worth of stocks and bonds on the internet is a basic human right, but I don't think democracy is a human right. We need strong leadership that doesn't care about the interests of the people.

I already posted a digital solution to this the last time this was discussed. Every time someone votes they get a randomized confirmation number. All votes get stored in a database and linked to the corresponding number. Anyone can look up their number on a public website and see that their confirmation number is indeed linked to the correct votes.
