<< The first time we try it Pokemon wins for president and the only thing you can find on the news is the feds breaking down some 12-year-old's door. >>

I dunno about that, joshpokeball has been acting much more responsibly recently. ;)

Leaving no "paper trail" or any evidence of voting is a non-issue, there are already plenty of places that use electronic polling systems where you just pull a lever/flip a switch. However I would NOT like to see it connected to any network, let alone the internet. Electronic voting can be made fast, accurate, and reliable but the states would need to adapt it 1st.

Considering both the RNC and DNC sites got hacked on election day, I really have serious doubts about the ability of the US to maintain security on an internet voting system. it would be just to tempting of a target to nail.

I agree that we need to get rid of paper but I've got two problems with voting over the net.

1. Voter ID, How does the state know who's actually voting on the other end, and how do you secure that ID. Please don't say SSN.

2. Hacks, If the defense department and CIA can't stay ahead of a 14 yr old with a laptop, how can we expect states, with fewer resources than the feds, to stay secure? If a state's e-ballot system does get hacked we'll end up in a worse situation than we've got this year with no paper trail for proof.
