Free webpages are bigger than ever... they're just streamlined into serving what the users wanted to do more easily (now that the "blog" concept has fully materialized). MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, etc. Take a look a MySpace and you'll see that things are as loud, dumb, animated, and poorly-formatted as ever.

Back when I had learned the basics of HTML and was trying to make some a serious website with as much style as I could muster (I think it was going to be a video game site :laugh between photoshop and dreamweaver, and my html knowledge... I quickly discovered how horribly frames within frames within frames within frames actually render on browsers, and getting anything to function inside of them was hell.

I gave up the goal, because after taking a look at languages like CSS, I said screw this and aborted my dream of web design. I just didn't feel like learning a web language just to do some personal websites that still had the likely chance of being worthless.
