Internet stability testing program??

Im looking for a program to find the stability of my internet connection, i tried googling but i didnt find anything. Basically my dad uses a VPN client for his job and it keeps on disconnecting so im guessing the internet isnt very stable. I dont have any problems myself when surfing, but i dont think i would notice if the internet went down for a couple of seconds. The VPN client is SonicWall btw.

Thanx

You can get a quick idea of Internet connectivity problems by running "Ping" in a Command Prompt window. Open an Command Prompt and type the following command:

"Ping yahoo.com -t>c:\ping.txt"

This command will continuously ping Yahoo.com and put the result into a text file named "Ping.txt" on your c: drive. End the command by hitting "Control-C" on your keyboard.

Don't forget to end it eventually (or close the Command Prompt), since this command will keep going until you do!

Periodically examine the text file and look for extended timeouts. If you have intermittent Internet connectivity, you'll be able to see it here.

Thanx, just tried it for app. half an hour 4% failed with an average response time of 220ms. The failures were spread quite evenly. How good/bad is this? btw: is there any way to do this on a mac as well (im running a mac and would like to compare results to test that its not just my dads computer)
