Internet Sharing

I have a computer that is connected via USB wireless access point and would like to share that internet connection with another computer.

Without having to go out and buy another wireless access point or run an ethernet cable from my router to the computer....is there a way to connect both computers together and share the internet access?

Ethernet to ethernet? Crossover cable? How would I do that?

TIA!

-------------> UPDATE....

I'm trying something new...need to know if I'm just drowning myself or not.

Let's see if I can draw this:

(wireless access point)<----USB--->(Computer 1)<---ethernet--->(5 Port Switch)<---ethernet--->(Computer2)

Will computer 1 be able to share its internet access to computer 2??

TIA

You do not want to use a Wire, and you do not want to buy another AP?

By a regular wireless client (PCI, USB, what ever).

Or describe better your Network, and what is on your mind.

:sun:

Room 1 (downstairs) - Wireless router connected to cable modem

Room2 (upstairs) / Computer 1 - Connected via USB wireless access point w/ open ethernet port
Room 2 / Computer 2 - open ethernet port ... just want internet access

Ulitmately I want to be able to swap out computer 2 with other computers and just plug in an ethernet cable for internet access.

I hope that helps.

Thanks...I'll do that. Just looking for shortcuts.

Here's another quick questions...

What if I bought another wireless router? I could technically use that as an access point then branch off from that wired right?

you can use the computer upstairs (wireless client) with open port. crossover cable to computer 2, and bridge the connections. (easy in XP, not so easy in other OS's)

Yes. You need to either turn on ICS, or if your WAP connects to something dishing out IP's, then you can just bridge the connection.

Does your wireless access point have switched ports in it? If so can you just run some Cat5 from your two computers into that?
