internet sharing using switch

i hav a DSL external modem, 2 pc with 1 Linksys network card in each pc. Is it possible for me to connect to the internet in either 1 pc using switch?

wat i mean is while PC 1 is connected , PC 2 cant connect and vice versa. anybody can help me?

You can hook it up without getting a Router but it would be easier to get a Switch with built in Router. There are many out there, I use the SMC7004VBR (Usually around $50 or less). It has 4 Switch ports so you can add a couple of PC's down the road.

If you don't want to get a Switch with a built in router just add a second Network card to your main PC to connect to a Switch only.

I had the same thing. I had to get a 10/100 Autosensing Switch AND another IP for the second pc. I got that thru COX and they charged me 5.95 month. But when I got the RT311, I was able to get rid of the 2nd IP and both conncect fine. I still use the switch cause the RT311 is just a gateway router. It was connected : Modem>Switch (port 1) > pc/pc to switch (3&4 ports)
