internet sharing and call waiting modem with phoneline network

I want to set up a network (preferably phoneline) and want to share internet connection, will that slow down my surfing at all? for example, if me and my sister are online, is the 56k bandwidth split between us or do we both get 56k downloads?

that sucks 🙁 but thanks for the info.

also, I'm considering a 10mbps phoneline network either from dlink, intel or linksys. I currently have an actiontec call waiting modem: whenever you're online and somebody calls you, the modem automatically disconnects you and lets you answer the phone. so will the phoneline network work with the call waiting modem?

Yes, there is an option to disable call waiting from within the dialing properties on windows operating systems. You can put just about any alpha numeric characters to disable call waiting. I had the same problem a while back, but mine was call waiting service on the phone line and not on the modem. So I enabled the option to disable call waiting and I did not get disconnected once I configured the dial up properties.

I am pretty sure, it will work for you kind of modem as well.
