What is a digital forensics expert? What do they do? Also, what is POTS??

The reason I ask these questions is prompted by another thread in another forum I am a member of. I'm trying to investigate and decide if someone is full of crap, or just trying to scare people.

Just need someone here if they are knowledgable on this subject to enlighten a little blonde here.

Thanks,
Valkyrie

A digital forensics expert recovers data from storage devices (such as hard drives) for use in court cases, e.g. if data to be used in a case was deleted, he/she would use methods to try to recover it.

POTS usually stands for Plain Old Telephone System; e.g. dial-up.
