Many of the internet radio sites have been advertising that they may need to shut down due to a new law giving a surcharge to the music industry above that of air wave radio. Any one know what is going on. I'd hate to lose my internet radio sites as I can not get any reception of radio in my area.

Yes they will shut down

Two weeks ago they had an internet day of silence where they advertised people to sign a petition instead of playing music.

Well it did not matter, the law passed, and a judge did not delay when the law goes into effect...which is another law stating the artists get to get even more rich by now receiving royalties from internet radio also...therefor it would have to be pay per song, and becomes to expensive for internet radio to broadcast anymore...thus the end of MOST internet radio.

Arists? Try the record company executives. The artists will continue to get screwed, just like the general public.

if only it was that nice. it's not per song: it's per listener. so yes OP, most internet radio stations will be shut down as they cannot afford the rates.

It's because of free radio internet artists like britney spears won't get a Gulfstream G400, instead, she has to get a Gulfstream III.

And the record executives won't be able to afford 5k acre mansions made of solid diamond and will be forced to buy 4k acre mansions made of gold.
