Internet problem with Win XP

I noticed that going though the post almost every time I click on a link it does not go throug and I need to press refresh at least once for it to work. I am using the default IE 6 and I know that I had no such problem before XP with IE 6. Is this dew to some timeout settings or connection problems?

Well, the browsing is ok. I didn't see any difference from 98.
However, it's 3 times slower in downloading compared to 98.
My cable is around 500 to 800K on 98, but 150 to 200 on XP.
 
mine still is fast and sometimez faster but having to press refresh nearly every time is getting rediculous.
